Two Arab nationals will spend a year in prison, followed by deportation, for stealing a credit card from a government official and withdrawing Dh50,000 from his account.

According to court reports, the 37-year-old UAE national found no money in his account when he went to withdraw cash from his bank account.

He complained to the bank and only later did he realise that his credit card was missing. He then informed the Al Ain police that his credit card was missing from his wallet, which he had left in the car.

The police circulated the number of the stolen credit card and soon enough, the duo were found driving a rented vehicle, which had been charged to the card.

They said they had stolen the card from the man's car a month earlier from the parking lot of the Global Village in Al Garhoud.

The two had also stolen 20 pre-paid phone cards and 40 mobile phones. They had managed to use the credit card because the victim had pasted the pin number on the back of the card.
