Fujairah: A teenager has died in an failed attempt to save a drowning boy in a pond formed by the heavy rain here on Sunday evening, police said. Both Emiratis, a 19-year-old and the seven-year-old boy, drowned a in a seven-metre-deep pond that formed near the boy’s house following heavy rain here, Gulf News has learnt.
The tragic accident took place on Sunday evening when the boy was playing with other children in Wahla area.
He slipped and fell into the pond.
An eyewitness saw the teen and the boy trapped in the pond and ran to the area and called residents to help them.
Both victims were later pronounced dead at Kalba Hospital.
