Abu Dhabi: Twelve waitresses have been found working without a permit.

A team of eight inspectors from the inspection department at the Ministry of Labour raided Bani Yas area in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

The team inspected 11 coffee shops and found 12 waitresses working without a labour card.

"We found 12 women working as waitresses and in the kitchens. None of them were on the sponsorship of their employers," said Mohsen Ali Saeed, director of the inspection department at the Ministry of Labour.

Penalties

"The establishments that were found breaking the law will be fined Dh10,000 for each violation and will be downgraded to a lower category for six months," added Saeed.

More inspection campaigns will be undertaken in other parts of the emirate and will cover all types of establishments, said Saeed.
