Dubai: An Arab woman was charged and referred to the public prosecution for failing to pay for around 300 traffic fines incurred from three emirates and which amounted to over Dhs 70,000.

The traffic violations follow-up department at Dubai Police's Traffic Department, revealed that an Arab woman has committed around 295 traffic violations in three emirates and for the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

According to Lieutenant Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Deputy Director of Dubai Police's Traffic Department, while monitoring the traffic violations on the public sector and individuals, the team at the traffic violation follow-up department noticed that a car, owned by an Arab woman working at Mall of the Emirates had registered a staggering amount of Dhs 16,000 in traffic violations in Dubai.

“A month ago the department contacted her to pay her fines but she ignored the request,'' said Lieutenant Colonel Al Mazrouei.

A team from the traffic department visited the Arab woman at her workplace to notify her of the increasing traffic violations as within the one month grace period she committed additional violations reaching more than Dhs 53,000 for a total of 113 violations just for Dubai police's traffic department. She also has an additional of Dhs 6,000 in road violations to the RTA.

Additional traffic violations of Dhs 400 for Sharjah traffic department and Dhs 1,700 for Umm Al Quwain traffic department along with more than Dhs 8,400 for accumulating unpaid fines for Salik road toll.

Following directions from Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Chief Police, the woman has been referred to public prosecution for delaying her accumulating unpaid traffic fines.

Earlier last month, Lieutenant General Dahi warned motorists who have delayed paying traffic fines for long periods that they will be sued in court.

Speaking at a press conference, he said: “We will use a new mechanism this year to take motorists, who do not pay their traffic fines for a long time or have large amounts of accumulated fines, to court. Either they pay or face jail.''

Wow, she could be put on Guinness World Book Of Record! She must, so she could pay the fines.

The authorities should cancel her driving licence and should put a life ban on her, these kind of people will endanger others life.

I am wondering why the her car isn't impounded, since they know where she is working, and realease it when she pays all the fines.

That's really shocking. How can somebody continue driving for this long without their licence or vehicle being taken away? Someone like this has got to be a serious danger on the road for other drivers.

Some people still think that the traffic rules are for somebody else. It will be good to see a statistics of various fines to be paid by this lady!

Was that for a period of one year only? I was just wondering how she was able to renew her car registration.

I think she is not worried about the fines on that time.

I think the authorities should take her driving licence, especially if most of her fines are related to speed.

Instead of referring to public prosecution she should be referred to Guiness book of world records for maximum number of violations.

She should be banned from driving immediately. She is obviously a threat to all other road users.

I am wondering why the authorities are not taking action to cancel her license?

How can people be allowed to rack up such huge fines? Surely after a few fines their licence should be withdrawn until they've paid the fines and they've learnt to drive. These people should be off the roads.
