"I haven't managed to get my Salik tag yet, but I will do it today. There was lots of traffic on the roads today, when I was driving around Satwa, and it was also really bad in Bur Dubai. The traffic was much heavier than usual - I think it was because of Salik. People are taking all of the alternative routes, which is why it is so congested on other roads. I think it will just make the other roads more crowded now."

"I got my sticker a while ago, but I've got tinted windows so I don't know if it will work. I haven't actually been under the toll today but Jumeirah Road and Al Wasl Road were very busy. I used my normal route - Sheikh Zayed Road - to get to Media City but I didn't go under the toll gate. It has made everything smoother and if it stays like this I would even pay Dh10 each time. I hope that it will work."
Nadine Dweidary, Syria, 27
"Today at around 12 noon I traveled from my home in Sharjah to Dubai on the Emirates Road. I don't have the Salik tag yet, but there was not very much traffic on the road and everything was pretty clear. I expected the roads to be full because people would be taking alternative routes, but it didn't affect things too much. I think it seems like a good start."
Nadim Barrage, Lebanon, 56
"I think it is a joke and the problem is on other roads now. Everybody is ending up on the alternative routes and people are all over the side roads. It was completely chocka-block this morning. My brother traveled from Al Sufouh to Deira and paid Dh8 to get stuck on Maktoum Bridge. It is so confusing. If the plan is for less traffic and less accidents we won't know if it has worked until the end of the year. The cost is going to accumulate each month and it will get expensive."
