Abu Dhabi: Nine health and safety violations have been detected during a series of inspections at tyre and oil changing service outlets in the capital’s Al Shahama suburb, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City announced in a statement sent today (Saturday).
The violations included installing defective tyres in vehicles or offering them for sale, as well as the improper disposal of oils, a practice that can harm the soil and the surrounding environment.
The four-day check on these outlets paid specific attention to ensuring that tyres were stored properly, disposed of safely and transported carefully to the designated waste disposal facilities. Handling of vehicle oils was also noted, to check that their transport and disposal did not negatively impact the environment.
Alongside the inspection, municipal officials also worked to educate store owners and workers about the need for safe practices. The statement added that the municipality will continue to run similar inspection campaigns in other areas to ensure public health and safety.
