Sharjah: Sharjah Police confiscated 668 vehicles for various violations and asked owners to keep them at their homes after installing GPS trackers to detect their movement.

Major Marzouq Khalfan Al Naqbi, director of vehicle confiscation section at traffic and patrols department, said the police impounded 668 vehicles during the first four months of this year. Under the new service, the police withdraws the vehicle’s plate number and ownership until the impoundment period ends.

Police asked the vehicle owners to keep their vehicles at their homes and not drive them until they settle their fines and the impoundment period ends. Any motorist found violating the rule will face penalties, according to the traffic law.

Major Al Naqbi said the vehicles will be publicised on the federal system and monitored via GPS.
