Dubai: Topping up Salik accounts to pay for the road toll fee in Dubai has been made easier with the introduction of new prepaid Salik scratch cards.

The Salik scratch cards are available in denominations of Dh50, Dh100, and Dh200. Earlier, motorists had to top up their Salik accounts at the customer service centres of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) or petrol stations.

"The aim of introducing the prepaid Salik scratch cards is to provide the Salik users easy access to the service at any time, and in a way that saves their time and effort," Maitha Obaid Bin Udai said, CEO of the RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency.

She said that the RTA would also soon introduce other multiple options to top up Salik accounts through credit cards, e-Dirham or direct debit from bank accounts, in collaboration with Dubai e-Government. "We are currently working on finalising these options," she added.

She said the new system is easy to use. Each Salik scratch card has a secret code to be scratched by the client for crediting the Salik account.

Will this make procedures easier? Have you faced any problems due to difficulties in payment?

This is really good, but how can I credit my account?

Why cant they just do the system thru SMS. Same idea as the parking fees. It would be much easier for people. Instead of the cards and scratching.
