Dubai: Nol cards will be sold at more points across the city as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) plans to make the cards easily available.
This will ensure that residents who want to use public transport such as the Metro, public buses, water taxis and water buses will have easy access to the cards, officials said.
"There are over 1.2 million transactions happening over Nol cards every day," Mohammad Yousuf Al Mudharreb, Director of the Unified Automated Fare Collection at RTA Corporate Technical Support Services Sector, told Gulf News.
Since August 2009, the RTA has sold over four million Nol cards, and in 2011 alone 1.2 million cards were sold, he said.
Bilateral agreements have been signed with some businesses to make the cards available. They will be sold at 39 outlets at Al Fardan Exchange, 30 outlets at Al Maya Group, and seven outlets at Aswaq, Al Mudharreb said.
As part of the Dubai Shopping Festival, the 50 per cent discount on personalised Nol Blue Cards which started on January 1 will run until February 29.
