Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police Traffic Department has installed 30 radars on the new Dubai-Al Ain Road.
The radars are operating on a speed limit of 140 km/h, and are a part of Abu Dhabi Police’s Traffic Safety strategy to provide a safe traffic environment for motorists on both the main and arterial roads.
Major Mohsin Saeed Al Mansouri, Director-General of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Abu DhabiTraffic Police, said the sites for the radars were decided based on the data collected by the police on traffic accidents and violations. The installation of the radars will help reduce the speed on roads to acceptable levels, he said.
Al Mansouri urged motorists to abide by the set speed limit in order to ensure their own safety and that of other road users. He also urged the public to play a part in spreading a culture of traffic safety in order to curb the occurrence of traffic accidents caused by speeding.
