New Al Hamra buses to be launched in RAK

Ras Al Khaimah: The RAK Transport Authority (RAK TA) yesterday signed a partnership agreement with Al Arabiya Taxi to launch 'Al Hamra Buses' to connect the various places of Ras Al Khaimah and to start inter-emirates bus service connecting Ras Al Khaimah and other emirates by the beginning of the coming year.

The authority also signed another agreement with a professional company to launch the advanced Al Hamra Call Centre which will be operational by the coming December.

The partnership agreement was signed by Colonel Nasser Muradad, Chairman of RAK Transport Authority, and Shaikh Sultan Bin Majid Al Qasimi, representing Al Arabiya Taxi.

Speaking at the function, Shaikh Sultan highlighted the importance of the agreement which will facilitate travelling around the UAE and reduce the traffic congestion on the emirate's crowded streets.

Muradad said that the agreements were finalised and signed under instructions from Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, to provide the public with the best possible transportation services and regulate public transport in the emirate to match up with the remarkable economic and social development currently underway.

He said the calls for creation of excellent public transport facilities and the launch of 'Al Hamra Buses' marks another key step towards the creation of a world-class public transport system in the emirate.

As many as 40 new buses would be introduced for the outside routes and 35 buses would be introduced for the RAK internal routes.
