Police issue 50,000 fines and confiscate 700 vehicles
Dubai: The traffic police issued more than 50,000 traffic fines and confiscated more than 700 vehicles in Bur Dubai last month. Brigadier Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, the director of Dubai Police's Traffic Department, warned that traffic police will implement strict punishments against offenders to protect all road users. He said the traffic police in Bur Dubai were able to increase their control on the roads and reduce accidents. According to statistics, blocking traffic topped the list of traffic offences with 8,881, followed by lane violation by light vehicles that accounted for 6,593 cases, while there were 4,097 cases of parking on pavements, 2,237 cases of parking in prohibited places and 393 cases of parking in places allocated to people with special needs or for ambulances.

Information sought on dead woman
Dubai: Police have sought the public's help in identifying a woman who fell from a building in Deira and died. Until yesterday, nobody had sought any information about her or claimed her body. The Bangladeshi woman, identified as Muneera Akthar Mohammad Sabjal, had fallen from a building in the Freej Ayal Naser area in Naif on October 2, police said. Police have urged the public to come forward with any relevant information about the deceased, by calling up the Police Control and Command Room on 04-6095555 or the Naif Police Station on 04-2286999.
