Dubai: Dubai Police checked more than 600 vehicles during the campaign of travelling by land launched by the Traffic Department.
Lieutenant Colonel Saif Al Mazroui, acting deputy director of the department, said police teams checked 455 light vehicles, 224 four wheelers, three buses and four trucks.
He said the checks carried out on Shaikh Zayed Road, Seeh Shoaib area and the border between the UAE and Oman, revealed that the tyres of 657 vehicles, or 95 per cent, were fit, while the tyres of 26 vehicles were unfit.
Lieutenant Colonel Al Mazroui said 56 per cent of motorists took care of the tyre pressure while 44 per cent did not abide by that and were advised to carry out regular check up of their tyres as well as before travelling.
