Abu Dhabi: The supervisory committee, assigned by the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowment, said that Dh20 is the required amount for Zakat Al Fitr this year.
To determine the exact amount, the committee, headed by Dr Farooq Hamad, religious advisor in the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, visited a Cooperative Society store in the emirate as its prices are considered the most stable and is monitored by the concerned authorities.
The committee also selected the rice, being the most common staple food in the country, based on its average price and quality and its overall demand from consumers.
