Millions given away in prizes like cash backs, cars and cash values in gold

Dubai: The Gulf News Mega Subscription 2013 promotion ended yesterday (Tuesday) with thousands of winners reaping exciting rewards in recent months.
The leading UAE English daily gave away millions in prizes, with one subscriber taking home a Dh1 million prize.
Meanwhile, 10,000 subscribers each received Dh400 cash-back through a free NBAD credit card. The winners were picked in monthly draws.
On Monday, 10 subscribers were randomly selected in a draw to win a Mitsubishi Pajero each, courtesy of Al Habtoor Motors. Another 10 each won Dh10,000 in gold.
Meanwhile, the last four of 10 Good Living registered members were drawn in a raffle on Tuesday for Dh1,000 in gold for each.
Bala Krishnan, Circulation Sales Manager, Gulf News Distribution, said the offers were as much about engaging with readers as they were about rewards.
“It presented an opportunity to explain the ideas behind the changes in the news package, and the huge expense our organisation took on with a view to the future — of more energy efficiency, better packaging, convenient size,” Krishnan said.
Gulf News recently adopted the more compact Berliner format comprising six sections.
“When time is at a premium, a diversified package, well sectioned, means ease of handling, ability to keep sections of interest for future reference, or to be read at leisure,” Krishnan added.
“The versatility of news package today means it’s much more beyond the headlines — it includes carousels and the introduction of special interest sections that touch people’s lives too.
“Print still continues to be part of our world today, despite the rise of digital media.
“The promotion stretching over four months has been a huge success. We have renewed and refreshed a base of tens of thousands of subscribers. The response of subscribers is a testimony to their belief in our organisation, product and services.
“Contributions of partners helps to boost the value of the offers, so a big ‘thank you’ to them!” he said.
The news came to me like lightning to brighten my life. It is my retirement gift given by God. This is my biggest prize I have ever won in my life, though I had tried my luck during the Dubai Shopping Festival but did not succeed then.

I’ve been a regular Gulf News reader for over 10 years but only became a subscriber last year — and what a great decision that turned out to be! This is the biggest thing I’ve ever won in my life, I’m so happy I couldn’t believe it.
