Safety at work drive continues in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi: The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City has called on companies to continue boosting the safety of employees at outdoor sites as well as helping to save the environment.

It praised the efforts of contracting and consultant companies as well as property developers in cooperating with the Municipality in implementing safety standards at sites.

Salah Al Sarraj, acting executive director of the Town Planning Sector, said: "Compliance with health and occupational safety standards is one of the key values stressed by the Municipality.. Moreover, it carries out a comprehensive assessment during all project construction stages to verify the conformity of construction operations with the global standards of occupational safety".

Educational activities

He said the campaign, which was launched by the Municipality in July, seeks to boost the culture of maintaining health and safety standards, as well as protecting the environment at construction sites.

Abdul Aziz Za'arab, Director of Health, Safety and Environment, said the campaign focused on implementing the standards of health and environmental safety at construction sites — ensuring the safety of workers. The campaign also stresses the importance of targeting the workers themselves through educational activities to protect them from injury.
