Dubai: An incredible 20,003 UAE residents took part in the 'Stand Up Against Poverty' campaign that took place over the last three days.

The high number of participants in the UAE and across the Arab world means a new Guinness World Record was set for the most number of people to stand up against poverty, ever. The UAE's participation was an unprecedented effort as more than 21 simultaneous 'Stand Up' events took place across the country over a 24-hour period on October 15 and 16. The benchmark set by the officials from the Guinness Team was set at 10,000 globally.

Altogether, however, the new Guinness World Record for the most number of people to simultaneously stand up against poverty is 23,542,614.
