Police officers in Fujairah provided a welcome sight for visitors. Besides improving traffic flow, the officers were distributing flowers and children's gifts to mark the holiday season.

Stationed at two checkpoints in Masafi and Fujairah Corniche, the festive police presence was one of the many things that brought a smile to the faces of holidaymakers, despite heavy traffic on the roads.

Vehicles clogged the main roads, but the traffic flow remained steady.

Thousands of holidaymakers have thronged Fujairah, Kalba and Khor Fakkan in the first day of the Eid Al Fitr holidays, attracted by the warm yet comfortable weather on the breezy East Coast.

The festive season this year is bringing a huge number of visitors to the area, especially from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

And it is a particularly popular choice, given that the holidays are followed directly by UAE National Day.

Like in every Eid Al Fitr holiday, a lot of people have chosen to visit the campsite between Khor Fakkan and Dibba Al Fujairah, where people can enjoy swimming and take in the attractive mountainous scenery.
