Petrochemical factory gutted in massive Umm Al Quwain fire

The situation is under control and no injuries have been reported so far

Umm Al Quwain: A huge fire broke out in a petrochemical factory in Umm Al Thoib area in Umm Al Quwain industrial area late Saturday night.

Colonel Khamis Bu lasali, acting director of Umm Al Quwain Civil Defence, said the fire broke out in a petrochemical factory and the situation is under control.

No injuries were reported so far.
 

The Civil Defence operations room received call reporting the fire on Saturday night, he said. 

Firefighters from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah quickly battled the flames and prevented it from spreading to adjacent premises.

Police have cordoned off the area to help the work of the Civil Defence team.
