Pakistani community organises musical shows to celebrate Independence Day

Dubai: Pakistani community members have lined up a number of social, cultural and musical events to celebrate their country's 60th Independence Day which falls on August 14.

The main events are being organised by the Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi and its Consulate General in Dubai. Apart from the usual flag hoisting ceremonies at the Pakistani missions on August 14, there are plans to hold grand musical shows both in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Famous Pakistani singers including Jawad Ahmad, Faakhir, Fariha Pervez, Ahmad Jahanzeb, Mohammad Ali Shyki, Lucky Ali, Laiba Ali and Mahnoor Raza will perform at the cultural and musical shows. "These artistes will first perform at Grand Hyatt hotel in Dubai at the Pakistani Consulate's reception on August 13 while their second performance will be held at the Pakistan Embassy's Independence Day reception at Inter Continental Hotel in Abu Dhabi," said Syed Emad, managing director of Dream Advertising company, organiser of the shows. He said that the focus of the musical events would be to highlight various aspects of Pakistani culture, heritage and traditions, and friendship between the UAE and Pakistan.

Activities

The Pakistan Association in Dubai will also organise a number of activities to celebrate Independence Day.

Famous Pakistani singer Salim Javed, music band ARZ and popular comedian Hanif Raja will perform at the association premises along with some UAE based artistes.

The association is also organising a series of sports events in addition to an Urdu Mushaira [poetry recitation evening] and a debate at the association.
