Orphaned pups looking for a home

Two-month-olds are currently being looked after by workers in a scrapyard

There are four orphaned puppies living in a scrapyard after their mother was killed. This is their story.

Workers living and working in the scrapyard found the mother's body outside the premises. These kind men have taken the puppies under their wing and have been feeding them whenever they can.

They do not have much food themselves and have mostly fed the puppies bread and whatever leftover food they are able to spare.

The puppies are just over two months old now and love scrambling around inquisitively and exploring their surroundings. They are a lively bunch and love chasing each other.

The workers themselves are a great example of good residents as they have been kind enough to build a makeshift shelter in the yard. However, with the amount of rain we have had in the past week, their efforts were all in vain.

The puppies have been sleeping in mud between scraps, their furry bodies wet and freezing. They are often seen snuggling up to each other, taking refuge in each other's warmth.

There were initially five puppies in the yard. One lucky dog has been adopted by a loving family. We are desperately looking for permanent homes for the remaining four pups.

The yard has an endless number of trucks coming through it daily. The little ones are in danger of being run over or being injured by metal scraps. Should anything happen, medical attention is far from available for them, too.

Another fear is that as they get older and go exploring outside the yard, they may suffer the same fate as their mother or sustain injuries without receiving any medical care, which would prolong their suffering.

They cannot stay at the yard forever and it is only a matter of time before something dreadful happens. The dogs have found themselves in this situation through no fault of their own. Sometimes, it is just the circle of life — but we should do all we can to help.

Anyone who is able to provide them with loving homes and is looking for an addition to their family this Christmas, please call Montserrat at 050 7706711, Fatima at 050 6993743 or me at 050 4681102.

The dogs are currently still at the scrapyard, as we do not have the space to care for them, until we find them permanent homes. Alternatively if anyone is able to keep them until someone is willing to home them permanently, we would appreciate a call.
