Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrol Police (ADTP) are all set to implement new speed limits on all roads in the emirate from Saturday.

The new regulations will be introduced after an extensive study held by Abu Dhabi Transport Department, the Abu Dhabi Municipality, Al Ain Municipality and the Western Region Municipality (Al Gharbeya).

"The new speed limits have been approved based on a speed monitoring strategy and a detailed study about the traffic volume and the architecture of the road," General Hussain Al Harthy, director of the ADTP, said.

Al Harthy called on all motorists to abide by the new speed limits displayed along main roads — in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Gharbeya — and the temporary speed limits along detours in construction areas.

Changes

Al Harthy said that the speed limits along Rashed Bin Saeed street from Al Maqta bridge to Al Saada street was between 60 kilometres and 80 kilometres per hour.

The speed limit along Al Khaleej Al Arabi street from Mosafah bridge to Al Saada street is 100 kilometres per hour, while the permissible limit along Baynuna street from Al Antra roundabout to the Emirates Palace round-about was 40 to 60 kilometres per hour.

As for Al Ain, the new speed limits will increase along Om Al Oush street from 60 to 80 kilometres per hour.
