Sharjah: A 29-year-old mother and her three-month-old baby survived after being hit by a car in Al Marqab in Sharjah on Tuesday morning, a police official told Gulf News on Wednesday.

The official said the young Egyptian mother was holding her infant and trying to cross the road when a speeding Sharjah taxi driver knocked them down. The baby fell to the ground from the impact of the collision, the official said.

An ambulance rushed to the scene and the mother and baby were transferred to Al Qasimi hospital for treatment. They received minor injuries, the official said.

The woman's husband pardoned the taxi driver and did not lodge a case against him after making sure his wife and baby were safe, he added.
