Abu Dhabi: The UAE Foreign Ministry denied that Somali pirates are holding a cargo ship carrying the UAE flag.

Mohammad Sultan Al Suwaidi, Director of Arab Affairs Department at the ministry, said that reports that Somali pirates have hijacked the ship were not true.
He said that the hijacked ship was flying Panama’s flag and  it had left the port of Ajman  earlier.
Al Suwaidi added that the ship is owned by a Somali trader and was carrying food items.
