Many office buildings and houses in Dubai's Al Safa area go without electricity for an hour
Dubai: A power cut in Dubai's Al Safa area left several office buildings and houses without electricity for almost an hour on Monday.
An emergency team from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) was informed of an electrical fault in a power sub-station around 3.15pm.
Sharif Afifi, a supervisor at DEWA, told Gulf News the situation was rectified within an hour.
He said: "The power cut was caused by tripping at a sub-station in the Al Safa area. We were informed about the problem just after 3pm and the electricity was restored 51 minutes later.
"A few homes and offices were affected but the problem wasn't too widespread."
A large number of commercial buildings and residential properties are located in the Al Safa area.
