A housemaid who was desperate to see her mother before she dies of cancer, filed a false case for rape - but ended up paying a Dh2,000 fine instead.
Ogosta F., a 36-year-old Indian housemaid, was charged at Dubai Court of First Instance with filing a false case by claiming that she had been raped.
According to police reports, on February 9 Ogosta reported to the police that two men had raped her at her place of work in Al Karama area.
The police went to the apartment and started questioning Ogosta, who said that two men entered the apartment by force while she was working. One of them grabbed her while the other sprayed something in her face. When she fainted, they raped her, she claimed.
Later, she admitted that she had filed a false case because she wanted her sponsor to allow her to travel to India and let her see her mother who was dying of cancer.
