Large fire breaks out in Sharjah warehouse

Sharjah: A large fire that broke out in a warehouse in Sharjah caused residents to panic as thick black smoke that engulfed the skies could be seen as far away as Al Garhoud.

The fire erupted at one warehouse which stocked plastic materials in Industrial Area 6.

“The intensity of the fire was very strong because the materials being burned were extremely flammable,” said Colonel Waheed Eisa Al Serkal, Director General of Sharjah Civil Defence.

“The fire broke out at in a warehouse that belonged to Jebel Al Akthar company, but the exact cause has not been established yet until we carry out an investigation. We were able to keep the fire under control and it did not spread to any of the nearby warehouses.”
