The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) announced more scholarships to bright Pakistani students applying from the UAE.

Dr Syed Zahoor Hassan, vice chancellor of the university, who met members of the Pakistan Professionals Forum in Dubai, said: "Our objective is to look for the best students irrespective of their social circle."

The university would like to have more students from the UAE because students coming from Dubai are not only brilliant but also bring additional value and diversity of culture to their campus. "People who come from all over the world to our university, learn from each other. That's the strength of LUMS," he said.

During the meeting, PPF members suggested ways which the LUMS can also contribute to the Dubai corporate sector. Students who wish to benefit from the scheme may contact the PPF educational support committee for details.

Also present at the meeting, were Naimat Ullah Jafri , PPF chairman; Ilyas Baig, vice chairman; Mubashir Jalili, head of the Committee for Education Support, and other members of the forum.

One of the most prestigious educational institutions in Pakistan, the LUMS was founded 15 years ago. Today the university has two schools: The Graduate School of Business Administration and The School of Arts and Sciences.

Besides academic programmes, LUMS also undertakes research and offers consultancy services. Research projects under the Centre for Management and Economic Research primarily deal with major economic and management issues of Pakistan and the region.
