Prime Minister Khaleda Zia renewed her call for the Awami League to join parliament and cautioned that legal action would be taken if the party resorted to creating chaos for perverse purposes.
"Instead of coming to parliament and conceding election defeat, the Awami League, finding no issue, is unleashing chaos blocking roads and putting up obstacles to development," she told a large public meeting at her home district Feni on Sunday.
"If you have a problem, solve it in parliament through discussion," said the prime minister.
She said that nobody would be allowed to create chaos on the streets, and warned that action will be taken under existing laws against those who put up road blocks to development.
Khaleda said the BNP have been voted to power to serve the people and ensure the country progressed.
"Join parliament the people have also voted you to serve them and speak for them in parliament," she told the Awami League, which is still undecided about joining parliamentary proceedings.
Khaleda, who leads a four-party coalition, said their election commitments would be implemented quickly.
