Jorma Panula music sessions held in Abu Dhabi

World-famous Conducting Teacher Jorma Panula led a five-day Educational Master Class in Abudhabi.

The exclusive five-day master class series entitled Maestro of the Maestros was designed to introduce classical music to the emirate's younger generation and develop the musicians' knowledge of the classical repertoire.

This educational programme was held from Frbruary 1 to 4 at Al Khubairat British School, with a grand finale on 5 February at the Emirates Palace.

The sessions, open to the public, were presided over by world-famous conducting teacher and Sibelius Academy Professor Jorma Panula. The workshop brought together a 70-musician orchestra from Finland and ten young international conductors from Japan, France, Italy, Korea, Germany, Austria and Finland, carefully selected to train under the famed Panula.

Maestro of the Maestros is just one of the many educational initiatives introduced by the Abu Dhabi Classics Academy, which aims to inspire youths to pursue their musical ambitions by yielding unique encounters with international classical music stars.

Following on from the master class, a former pupil of Jorma Panula, word-acclaimed Finnish maestro Jukka-Pekka Saraste, conducted the Sibelius Academy Orchestra Helsinki on 6 February at the Emirates Palace.
