Residents and tourists flocked to malls, hotels, parks, corniches and other public places yesterday to bid goodbye to 2018 and welcome 2019 in style.

Hundreds of thousands gathered at Downtown Dubai by early evening to ensure that they had a vantage spot from where to view the spectacular fireworks at Burj Khalifa on New Year’s Eve.
