Dubai Police said traffic on New Year’s Eve moved as smoothly as possible
Dubai: During the New Year Eve all roads were secured by police officials and traffic police who facilitate traffic movement and assist the crowd to go off smoothly without interruption.
Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Chief of Dubai Police said the committee to secure activities in Dubai managed to make the celebrations of New Year’s Eve safe and Secure.
Major General Al Mazeina said the event was attended by a large number of people, to watch the celebrations.
He said that Dubai Police put all potential human and technical resources to provide comfort and smoother movement to all.
“People came from neighbouring countries and other emirates to celebrate in Dubai and police have secured all areas of fireworks in coordination with the Dubai Civil Defence and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA),” said Major General Al Mazeina.
Major General Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, Director of Dubai Police Traffic Department was on spot all the night during the New Year Eve to be sure that traffic movement is smooth and roads were clear.
Major General Al Zafein said that traffic police applied a security plan which included police patrols deployed on all roads and junctions, from Diera and Bur Dubai traffic departments.
“More than 150 traffic police officers and personnel were on their spots on main roads and the celebration areas including Jumeirah, the Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall, the Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Road, and at Al Mamzar, Al Warqa and Al Riqa,” Major General Al Zafein told Gulf News.
Major General Al Zafein said that to ensure security and safety during the celebrations, police patrols were stationed at every junction in Dubai.
He said some roads were closed yesterday due to the huge traffic.
Major General Al Zafein said some people were issued traffic fines for causing chaos on roads.
According to Dubai Police Control and Command Centre at the Operation Department, some accidents happened during the New year Eve but no serious injuries and no fatalities reported until now.
