Hind helps woman repair home ruined by blaze

Ras Al Khaimah: A woman whose house was badly damaged in a fire is to have all repairs carried out for free following help from Shaikha Hind Bint Juma'a Al Maktoum, the wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Shaikha Hind heard of the 36-year-old Fatima Al Shehi's plight and wanted to help.

An electrical fault had caused the fire and the damage was estimated at Dh300,000. Fatima lives alone with her maid, as her parents died some years ago. Fatima was forced to share her maid's room after the fire as she could not afford to renovate the house.

Fatima who holds a masters degree is a government employee and is studying for a PhD in international law. She said that the fire had destroyed her computer on which she kept her thesis and she has now to start her work from scratch.
