Dubai: The World Health Organisation has approved a new diabetes diagnosis test, an accurate blood test that depends on identifying HBA1C to determine the blood sugar average during the two or three months preceding the test.

The test is a positive technique in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes, said Dr Mahmoud Fikri, Assistant Undersecretary for Health Policies at the Ministry of Health, noting that it uses one blood specimen.

"The test does not require the patient should fast before the test for a certain time or any extra amount of blood yet it is important for the doctors who can discover the diseases in an early stage and begin treatment and follow up in a suitable time to avoid complications," he said.
