Dubai: MetLife – one of the largest life insurance companies in the world – has introduced its cancer support programme in the Gulf, offering comprehensive assistance to members diagnosed with cancer.
The initiative provides personalised care, including a dedicated case manager to guide patients through their treatment journey — from accessing top medical facilities to coordinating home care. Patients benefit from medication delivery and home nursing services tailored to their medical needs and policy coverage. Members can enrol by submitting their diagnosis, medical reports, and details of the assistance required.
Selin Talgar, Head of Service and Operations at MetLife Gulf, noted that the objective is to make the cancer treatment journey as smooth as possible.
“Through dedicated case managers, streamlined approvals, and access to top-tier medical care, we ensure that our members receive the right support at the right time – so they can focus on their health while we handle the rest.”
Design affordable plans
For members with limited policy coverage, MetLife helps design affordable treatment plans, including exploring government-funded programmes or seeking treatment options in home countries to maximise available benefits.
The programme offers second medical opinions, remote consultations with leading oncologists, assistance in selecting treatment facilities, streamlined pre-approval processes, and direct billing for treatments abroad within MetLife’s geographical scope.
George Kotsalos, head of employee benefits at MetLife Gulf, highlighted that a cancer diagnosis presents medical, emotional, and logistical challenges.
“This programme is designed to ensure that no member faces these challenges alone. It reflects our commitment to providing not only insurance but also essential care to help our members during their treatment.”
Since its launch, the programme has assisted 13 families, who hailed the timely assistance.
“The team supported us every step of the way, ensuring my wife received the necessary treatment,” said husband of a breast cancer patient.
A member from Oman added: “I received my medication on time, even during my trip, and it was delivered to my home.”
