Dubai: The 37th birthday of the world’s first test tube baby, Louise Brown, was celebrated with a month-long fertility festival at the Bourn Hall Clinic fertility centre in Dubai.

Brown was the first test tube baby that set a new benchmark for what science and technology could do to improve the lives of people suffering from infertility.

Brown was born on July 25 in 1978 through the pioneering research of the Bourn Hall team in Cambridge, UK. Since then more than a million couples have benefited globally from this advanced clinical treatment, said a statement issued by the Bourn Hall Clinic in Dubai on Saturday.

The festival, which commenced on July 25 and will run until August 2, celebrates the scientific achievement by the co-founders of Bourn Hall Clinic, Professor Edwards and Patrick Steptoe. Known as the father of IVF, Professor Edwards received a Nobel Prize for Medicine for his achievements in December 2010.

Bourn Hall International established its state-of-the-art clinic in Dubai in 2012. It now has plans to open four more clinics in the UAE over the next two years. The new international network of assisted conception clinics will adhere to the same standards of excellence set by the original clinic.

Sudhir Bahl, Managing Director-Mena region of Bourn Hall International Clinic, said: “Bourn Hall Clinic is pursuing the original vision of the founding fathers and is continuing to be a supportive sanctuary for anyone having difficulties conceiving. Our team of experienced doctors, scientists and health-care professionals in Dubai support patients throughout their journey by giving honest advice and a personal treatment plan that’s unique to their situation.”

This advanced technique of reproduction has emerged as a complete solution for fertility treatment in the UAE. Factors, such as lifestyle, professional commitments, stress and age usually lead to infertility issues. The chances for success with IVF have also come a long way over the last several decades.

The clinic offers personalised solutions for male and female fertility issues through its world-class infrastructure and team of IVF specialists, andrologists and embryologists.
