Gulf states to meet to discuss inflation levels

Manama: Policymakers and chambers of commerce officials from the Gulf are set to meet in Bahrain on March 23-24 to discuss how to deal with the almost record high levels of inflation that have hit the region incredibly.

Recommendations from the International Monetary Fund will also be heard at the conference which is to be attended by members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as well.

The conference, entitled "The phenomenon of price rises in Gulf states: causes and future directions", will feature IMF and European Union speakers.

Rising inflation has been a crucial issue in the countries across the Gulf with many countries reaching near record high levels of inflation.
