Company opts for eco-friendly cards
Environmental awareness programmes are always on the agenda of most organisations these days. Be it in the form of participating in clean-up drives, or paper collection, or can collection, or holding talks by eminent ecologists.
Getting ISO14001 certified is also a very major achievement for most of them. But there are a few who do it in a very different way.
Cosmos-ITL, Dubai, decided to get eco-friendly messages printed on all the cards that they send out on various occasions.
"Since taking care of the environment in which we live is something all of us should be actually practising, we decided to remind our staff and well-wishers about this vital aspect through our cards," said Ram Buxani, director, Cosmos-ITL.
Their focus was not only on aspects like recycling and reusing. Behavioural changes needed for safe living have also been included in them. "After all, we human beings are also a very important resource," he added.
Catchy statements like 'Drinking and driving do not make a good cocktail', or 'Save water
one day you may have to live without it', or 'Greenery is life. Preserve it', are but a few that have been considered for the past 10 years.
Belting up while driving, saving our resources by recycling and reusing are other cultural and environment hazards pointed out in these cards. "All our New Year, Eid or Diwali cards have a focussed message in them," said R. Haridas, advertising and promotions manager, Cosmos, ITL.
