UN praises Khalifa's role in helping refugees worldwide
Abu Dhabi: United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees praised the noble initiatives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on helping the refugees worldwide. Such continuous support will help to improve conditions of the refugees, as it curbs their suffering, the commissioner said.
In a message delivered by the international body to Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA), on the World Refugee Day, the commissioner referred to the role of Shaikh Khalifa in alleviating suffering of the refugees, citing the recent $10 million donation to the refugees in Syria.
The commissioner also valued the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in providing needs of refugees.
Sa'ad Akram, a senior official at the commissioner, also commended Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak for launching a number of initiatives, which provided care and good living to the female refugees, citing the refugee women fund, which was launched on the initiative of Shaikha Fatima.
The commissioner noted that it follows efforts exerted by the RCA under the leadership of Shaikh Hamdan in the regions hard hit by the conflicts, crisis and calamities.
