UAE inks cooperation pacts with Cuba

Havana: The UAE and Cuba on Saturday signed two agreements to enhance political consultations and boost economic, commercial and technical cooperation between the two countries.

The agreements were signed by Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister, and Cuba's Foreign Trade and Investment Minister Rodrigues Dias, in Havana on Saturday.

The consultations between Shaikh Abdullah and his counterpart focused on investment opportunities in the tourism, trade and renewable energy sectors in both countries.

Business delegations from both countries were present.

Shaikh Abdullah gave a presentation on facilities provided by the UAE to foreign investors and called on Cuban investors to visit the UAE. He later visited the Economic Development Area and Port in the Cuban capital of Havana where he was briefed on the unique characteristics of the area that make it a key centre for oilfield operations and logistics.

Earlier, Shaikh Abdullah met Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas and discussed with him bilateral relations.
