Winners' efforts complement the achievements of Federal bodies, Mohammad says

Dubai His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Wednesday honoured winners of the 15th edition of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme Awards.

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, were present.

While greeting the winners, Shaikh Mohammad said honouring young people from various departments and specialities was honouring the UAE because Dubai government departments are an inseparable part of the country's federal establishments, and their achievements complement the achievements of both federal and local government bodies in other emirates.

Government fabric

He added that all these departments formed the national government fabric in a state of institutes and said their ultimate target was to serve Emiratis wherever they are and helping boost the country's image at regional and global levels.

In his opening speech, Shaikh Hamdan said everything seen in Dubai today was the dream of Shaikh Mohammad, adding that it had been implemented by a capable team of distinguished employees.

"I would like to refrain from delivering a formal speech and talk realistically. We have reached number one, thanks to the vision and planning of Shaikh Mohammad," he said.

"Shaikh Mohammad draws a plan and implements it, while many others draw a plan and forget it," Shaikh Hamdan said.

"My brother Shaikh Maktoum and I have a difficult task ahead of us, which is to follow in the steps of Shaikh Mohammad," Shaikh Hamdan said.

The Distinguished Administrative Category winners included the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry for ‘Customer Satisfaction'; the Dubai Statistics Centre for ‘Employee Satisfaction'; Dubai Police and the Department of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (DRFA) jointly for ‘Financially Distinguished Government Body'; Dubai Municipality for ‘Distinguished e-Government'; Dubai Police and the Public Prosecution jointly for ‘Distinguished Work Team'; the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) for ‘Distinguished Administration Initiative'; and Dewa and the Dubai Customs jointly for ‘Distinguished Technical Project'.

The Distinguished Joint Government Project Award was shared by Dubai Police, the Roads and Transport Authority, Dewa, the Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Media Incorporated, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Health Authority, the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and the Department of Economic Development. The winning project was the function security committee.

Individual distinguished employee winners were the DRFA's Lieutenant-Colonel Khalid Nasser Abdul Razzaq Al Razzouqi for ‘Distinguished Government Employee'; Dewa's Yousuf Mohammad Al Khazraji for ‘Financial Employee'; Dubai Municipality's Ebrahim Mohammad Ebrahim Ali Juma for ‘Technical Employee'; the Dubai Health Authority's Dr Abdullah Mohammad Qasim for ‘Specialist Employee'; Dubai Customs' Khalid Ahmad Obaid Al Mo'azzen for ‘Field Employee'; Dubai Police's Elham Younus Abdullah Ahli for ‘Distinguished Woman Employee'; and Afrah Abdul Rahman Al Mansouri, again from the Dubai Police, for ‘New Employee'.

Distinguished service

Individual categories included 25 nominees for ‘Distinguished Government Employee', 23 nominees for ‘Distinguished Administrative and Financial Employee'; 15 nominees for ‘Distinguished Technical and Engineering Employee'; 18 nominees for ‘Distinguished Field Employee'; 20 nominees for the category of ‘Distinguished Employee in a Specialised Job', 21 nominations for ‘Distinguished Female Employee' and 19 for ‘Distinguished New Employee'.

In the Distinguished Administrative Categories there were 27 nominees for ‘Distinguished Financial Government', nine nominees for the ‘Distinguished eGovernment' category, nine nominees for ‘Distinguished Joint Government Project' category, 11 nominees for ‘Distinguished Technical Project', 18 nominees for ‘Distinguished Administrative Initiative', and 14 nominees for ‘Distinguished Team Performance, ‘Best Customer Satisfaction' and ‘Best in Employees Satisfaction', besides other categories.

The Excellence Memorial Shield, which Shaikh Hamdan presented to Shaikh Mohammad in recognition and gratitude for sponsoring the march of excellence and innovation in governmental departments and private sector institutions.
