Traffic authority to launch 30 safety campaigns
Dubai: The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will launch at least 30 different campaigns aimed at creating awareness about traffic safety issues.
“The public and private sector will be involved this year to create better awareness about road and traffic safety issues,'' said Maitha Obaid Bin Udai, Chief Executive Officer of the Traffic and Roads Agency at the RTA. A campaign regarding driving in the fog and rain is being launched this month.
In February this year, the RTA will launch a parking on pavements campaign and it will be re-launched in June and November.
February will also witness a campaign focusing on the safety of bicycles, pedestrians, seatbelts and children's safety.
In March, the RTA will take part in the GCC Unified Traffic Week, and will also launch a danger of speeding campaign.
Dangers of red light jumping and a campaign creating awareness about the importance of moving vehicles involved in minor accidents to the roadside will also be launched in August and October. A campaign focusing on people with special needs will be launched in April and September.
The RTA will also publish two magazines to educate people about roads and traffic safety issue.
