Shaikha Fatima fund for refugee women and children
Abu Dhabi: UAE is funding the United Nations refugee projects in disaster areas, said a top official.
“Currently we are funding the projects; if we get any advice to establish refugee camps in the UAE we will discuss it with the authorities'', Dr Ali Bin Abdullah Al Ka'abi, Chairman of the Board of Director of the Red Crescent told Gulf News during the press conference that launched the Shaikha Fatima fund for refugee women and children on Monday in Abu Dhabi.
Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of UAE General Woman's Union, Honorary President of the UAE Red Crescent and the United Nations Higher Commissioner for Refugees UNHCR, signed a memorandum of understanding in June 2003 establishing a fund for the protection and assistance of refugee woman and children.
Shaikha Fatima donated two million dirhams then for the fund.
On Monday, a 90-day media campaign began, featuring a number of radio and television spots that will be aired in major radio and TV networks.
It also features a poster campaign on display in malls and billboards.
