No place for barns in residential blocks
Ras Al Khaimah: The municipality yesterday warned houses having barns in residential areas to demolish them because they have been polluting the area and are the main reason behind stray animals.
A senior municipal official said the houses were ordered to demolish the barns, failing which the authorities would step in.
The official stressed that there is no specific deadline but a grace period would be given to demolish the barns and relocate the animals.
List ready
He, however, warned that the grace period would not be long.
The official said the Ras Al Khaimah Municipality had already prepared a list of the houses located in the residential areas and having barns.
The official stressed that soon inspectors will pay a final field visit to these houses to inspect whether they have demolished the barns.
Complaints
He said the barns located in the residential areas have been officially reported as harmful to public health and many people have repeatedly complained of foul odours coming from the barns.
He added that the barns were the main cause of stray animals because owners of the animals let them roam free for most of the day.
He stressed that the decision was intended to protect the beauty of Ras Al Khaimah and enhance its image, considering that it has been developing in all aspects.
