National Security panel stresses need to achieve unity

Abu Dhabi: A meeting of the National Security Council has stressed the need to achieve the mission of the council which is the consolidation of unity at the national level.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday chaired the first meeting of the National Security Council at the Presidential Palace.

The Council is headed by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The meeting was attended by Shaikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs, and Saif Sultan Al Aryani, Secretary General of the Council.

Starting point

The National Security Council considered a number of proposals that could serve as a starting point to outline its work policy, achieve its objectives and define its priorities along with the adoption of a decision-making mechanism and its implementation.

The meeting stressed the need to translate the National goals and mission of the Council represented by the consolidation of unity at the national level along with promoting the spirit of national decision-making and deepening the sense of belonging and loyalty to the homeland and its wise leadership among the community of the UAE and its institutions.

Shaikh Mohammad emphasised the importance of intensifying constructive cooperation and coordination between the Council and all the authorities concerned at the federal and local levels and working to overcome obstacles that may prevent the council from accomplishing its mission and implementing its national tasks.

Confidence

Shaikh Mohammad wished the members of the National Security Council success in serving the homeland and expressed his confidence in the sincerity and efficiency of the Council's members.

Shaikh Mohammad chairs the first meeting of the National Security Council at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi Monday. Shaikh Hazza, Lt Gen Shaikh Saif, Shaikh Mansour and Shaikh Abdullah attended the meeting.
