Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed inaugurates building, hoists UAE flag on the premises
Abu Dhabi: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the National Defence College’s (NDC) Supreme Council, yesterday inaugurated the new NDC building.
Shaikh Mohammad hoisted the UAE flag on the NDC’s premises, and later unveiled the plaque marking the official inauguration of the college.
“It is my utmost pleasure and pride to inaugurate today this academic and research edifice, coinciding with our celebrations for the 42nd anniversary of the UAE National Day. We believe in the message conveyed by our education and academic institutions. We have confidence in their vital role in keeping abreast with rapid changes in the world today, and anticipating the challenges and future outcomes that these changes bring about,” said Shaikh Mohammad.
Shaikh Mohammad was then briefed by Major General Staff Pilot Rashad Mohammad Salem Al Saadi, Commander of NDC, on the college, its various research and education facilities, and highly advanced curriculum. He was also informed about the high levels of cooperation between NDC and other national institutions such as UAE University, Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research and others.
Shaikh Mohammad expressed his happiness in seeing Emiratis enrolling in NDC to enrich their knowledge, practical expertise, and obtaining the required capabilities to effectively serve the nation.
He pointed out the college is a new source for the country’s sustainable development, and developing the qualifications of Emirati human resources, which receives the attention and support of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
At the beginning of the inauguration ceremony, Al Saadi delivered a speech in which he welcomed Shaikh Mohammad, and spoke about the high expectations set for NDC to become another platform for educational excellence and strategic thought required by national institutions.
Present were Shaikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor, Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth, and Community Development, Lieutenant General Hamad Mohammad Thani Al Rumaithi, Chief of Staff of UAE Armed Forces, and other senior officials.
