UAE president ‘appreciates Cairo's stances on Arab issues'

Abu Dhabi:  President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a round of negotiations with Egyptian President Mohammad Hosni Mubarak at Mushrif Palace, on Monday afternoon.

During the meeting, that was also attended by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the distinguished relations between the two countries were discussed, in addition to the best means of developing and enhancing them in different fields.

The two leaders exchanged views on the latest Arab, regional and international events of mutual interest.

The UAE president expressed his keenness to boost the distinguished fraternal bonds between the UAE and Egypt.

He appreciated Cairo's stances towards Arab issues especially its efforts to close ranks of Palestinian people and achieve national reconciliation among various groups.

Shaikh Khalifa voiced the UAE's support for these noble efforts and stressed the need for advancing efforts toward peace-making in order to boost chances of a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the region.

For his part, the Egyptian head of state praised the prudent policy adopted by the UAE under the leadership of Shaikh Khalifa.

President Mubarak was welcomed upon arrival at Al Mushrif Palace by Shaikh Khalifa, Shaikh Mohammad, General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and a number of shaikhs, ministers and senior officials.

Shaikh Khalifa on Tuesday held talks with Hosni Mubarak.
