Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, attended the third Al Amal mass wedding for people with special needs, held on Wednesday evening at Zabeel Park.

Looking into life with limitless hope and optimism, the 101 couples tied the knot in the UAE's largest mass wedding ceremony named O'rs Al Amal, or the Wedding of Hope.

The event took place under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and was held to mark the third anniversary of Shaikh Mohammad's accession as Ruler of Dubai.

Organised by the Dubai Club for Special Sports, the Arab Family Organisation and Iqd Al Yasmen, the Al Amal Wedding is a unique event in the region.

Apart from the couples, the ceremony was also attended by members of the higher organising committee, the families of the couples, representatives of sponsoring firms and several dignitaries.

In a welcoming address, Jamal Al Bah, Chairman of the Arab Family Organisation and Vice Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee, thanked Shaikh Mohammad for his patronage of the event for the third successive year.

He said the event reflected the care and attention Shaikh Mohammad gives to the people with special needs. "The weddings brought happiness and hope to the lives of the people with special needs," said Al Bah, adding "it is an expression of Shaikh Mohammad's commitment to provide care for this section of the society."

Al Bah also thanked Shaikh Hamdan for blessing the ceremony with his presence and his guidance to the couples to set up strong family life and play their active role in society.
