Greetings, special events and joyous celebrations were the highlights yesterday as the 38th Accession Day of President His Highness Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan approached. Following are some of the key events:

FNC congratulates

The Federal National Council (FNC) yesterday greeted Shaikh Zayed on the happy occasion and renewed commitment to his policies. Saeed Mohammad Al Ghandi, FNC Speaker, said the council appreciates Shaikh Zayed's efforts in cementing the UAE federation and for the many other achievements.

Greetings from UAQ

Local departments in Umm Al Quwain will remain closed on Saturday to mark the Accession Day, according to a statement by the court of His Highness Shaikh Rashid Bin Ahmad Al Mualla, Supreme Council member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain. The court congratulated Shaikh Zayed on the glorious occasion.

Youth Ship voyage

Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Education and Youth, witnessed celebrations held at Mina Zayed to receive the Emirates Youth Ship, which travelled through the country to mark the occasion.

March of progress

In Al Ain, a march spearheaded by horsemen carrying portraits of Shaikh Zayed and UAE flags, was flagged off yesterday. The procession, organised by Dar Zayed for Comprehensive Care, will arrive at Abu Dhabi tomorrow.
