Dubai Police release new app update for IOS with 105 services

Dubai: People can now get a queuing ticket for any police station through the smartphone app on IOS.
This is one of 13 new services Dubai Police made available on the new update for its mobile app ‘Dubai Police’ for IOS.
The updated app was released on Sunday evening, with 105 services, as opposed to the 92 previously available.
Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Chief, said, “The new update is more user-friendly, easy to use and more customisable,” he said.
Dubai Police are still working on the same update for Android phones.
The ‘Police Stations’ feature not only allows users to take an electronic queuing ticket, but also vibrates and sends a notification when your turn comes.
The feature also allows the user to see how many people are at different police stations and the expected time for his/her turn to come.
“This way people can choose to go to the less crowded stations, and so save their time,” Maj Gen Al Mazeina said.
Exact paper work and procedures needed for the service can be viewed, and the app will alert the user if the service can be done through the app without having to visit a police station. The time it takes to finish the service is indicated under each service.
Other noteworthy features include a “drive mode”, which will voice notify the driver of any accidents on his route, a new interactive map that shows accidents in Dubai, nearest police stations, hospitals and pharmacies, as well as ‘Police Eye’, which encourages the public to report any suspicions, crimes or disturbances.
“Dubai Eyes is just like ‘We are all Police’ but for all kinds of reports, issues or suspicions. People can pick the place of the incident or suspicions they want to report, add a photo, video, sound clip or text, to help maintain the safety of Dubai,” Colonel Khalid Al Razooqi, Director of Smart Service at Dubai Police, said at the press conference held on Monday.
People can also browse through all of Dubai Police’s social media accounts with ease in one place using the app, he said.
“Once a user logs in with his ID, a complete history of all the interactions, reports and transactions with Dubai Police can be accessed by the user. It could also be filtered by the type of reports, such as traffic, criminal or others,” Col Al Razooqi said.
The new update has the feature for the visually-impaired that was launched during Gitex.
The app looks completely different and allows the user to pick his favourite service for fast access, as well as choose to display the services as a list or a grid.
The mobile app was downloaded more than 944,422 times on both IOS and Android.
More than 519,000 downloads were on IOS phones and more than 437,000 were on Android.
People can also rate each service after they use it out of five stars, as well as participate in the happiness index through the app at any time.
